Fun in the Sun...

I went on my first trip by myself last week to Fort Myers, FL. I know what you're probably thinking 'why would you want to go on a trip by yourself? what did you do the whole time?' I ended up going to the beach everyday which was the reason I went on a trip by myself in the first place. I had delicious seafood, spent way too much money, and got a tomato-red sunburn while there. However, I have never felt so relaxed and ready for the semester to begin. Here's a picture of paradise (that I took with my camera :) ) for when you're also feeling stressed!

"Waterfall" Picture from: http://www.mcescher.com/gallery/most-popular/waterfall/ When I first graduated from high school in 2011, I went to Southeast MO State for a semester. I had to take an intro course, similar to what is offered at SCC, but each section had a different theme. I was interested in "Mathematics in Art" so many of my favorite artists I learned about in that class. M.C. Escher created many different works of art, but his "impossible constructions" are what caught my attention. As you can see, the water is clearly falling from the top left tower but is rising up through a series of chutes. This is technically impossible do to the work of gravity. However, Escher had such a creative mind that he didn't follow natural laws in his works and that made him a place in artistic history.

picture by Annie Leibovitz picture from: http://www.fansshare.com/gallery/photos/11066874/dd-ded/ Even though I just watched a documentary about her recently, she seems like she could lend a little influence to everybody, including me. She has such creative ideas about almost everything she ever wanted to needed to photograph. This picture, like many of her others, shows that she isn't afraid to step out of the box to get a good photograph. She's creative in what props she wants, where she wants the props and people to be, and how she sees the picture she wants to get out of the shoot. I also think it's amazing how comfortable she was telling people what to do and how to do it; there's probably not many people that can say they told Whoopi Goldberg to get in a milk bath, and she actually did it.
